Road Safety Grants now open for QLD-based NFP organisations
Not-for-profit (NFP) organisations on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast are being encouraged to apply for up to $20,000 for road safety initiatives to address issues in their local area via a 2020 Community Road Safety Grant.
The grants, which are available to schools, councils, community groups and NFPs are being allocated by the State Government in recognition of the critical importance of road safety as communities start to rebuild after the COVID-19 pandemic has passed, Queensland Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said.
“Since 2013, more than $20 million has been awarded through the grants scheme to 375 projects across the state – including many on the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Bailey said.
Initiatives previously funded by the Grants include road safety education, resources and training, learner driver mentor programs, bike education, child restraint information and heavy vehicle fatigue management.
Mr Bailey encouraged eligible applicants to apply prior to the Grant deadline of 31 July, saying that “no one knows grassroots community issues better than local groups, schools and the council”.
