Kids First Board member remembered for her passion for people
Kids First Australia, a purpose-driven organisaton striving since 1896 to see all children and young people thriving in resilient, strong and safe families and communities in Melbourne, has paid tribute to Sue Beecher, a philanthropist, Kids First Board member and “wonderful human” who recently passed away.
The Board described their deep sadness, sending thoughts and condolences to Sue’s husband Eric, their children Kate, Joanna, Tom and Sophie, and the entire Beecher family.
Having joined the Kids First Board just last year, Ms Beecher had enjoyed a long affinity with the organisation, having completed her social work degree at the University of Melbourne alongside CEO Aileen Ashford, and undertaking her first social work role with the Children’s Protection Society – now known as Kids First.
Her passion for people and community saw her drive a social justice agenda across many spheres, including working as philanthropy services manager at Perpetual Limited, senior advisor at Wendy Brooks and Partners, and philanthropy manager at the Secretariat of National Aboriginal and Islander Child Care (SNAICC) National Voice for our Children, as well as being an active member of Human Rights Watch.
Sue, the Board said, “leaves an incredible legacy of social work and philanthropy”.
Kids First plan to honour her memory through the establishment of a Sue Beecher leadership award, details of which will be made available shortly.
