Calendar note for 2020: World Read Aloud Day

Next Wednesday 5 February 2020, Australia will join with over 170 countries worldwide to celebrate World Read Aloud Day.
For the past 11 years, World Read Aloud Day has united people around the world to highlight the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories. Participation in World Read Aloud day is a simple way for early childhood education and care (ECEC) to acknowledge the value of reading with children at any age, but especially under the age of five.
Joining in is easy. ECEC services simply choose a book, read it aloud, and, if they choose to, share their favourite read-aloud moments on social media using the hashtag #WorldReadAloudDay
A range of free resources to support services to participate have been developed by LitWorld. The posters, stickers, digital elements and ideas may be accessed here.
For a list of suggestions of books appropriate for children from birth to five years of age, five years to nine years, and nine to twelve years of age may be accessed here.
