New Geccko course simplifies payments, fees and CCS obligations for ECEC services

A new online learning course launched on the Geccko platform is helping early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers better understand how to manage payments, gap fees and Child Care Subsidy (CCS) entitlements in line with Family Assistance Law.

The course has been developed to support educators, administrators and approved providers in navigating the complexities of financial compliance, particularly in areas where errors can lead to overpayments, debts or breaches.

This self-paced course is designed to build practical knowledge and compliance confidence. Participants will learn how to:

• Explain payments and gap fees
• Describe the mandatory inclusions in a CCS statement of entitlement
• Understand when statements must be issued to families
• Apply and report third-party payments and discounts
• Recognise, prevent and manage overpayments and debts

The course is available now on the Geccko platform, an online learning environment designed to help ECEC professionals meet their obligations under Family Assistance Law. All modules are short, accessible, and include downloadable certificates upon completion.

The course is suitable for all staff working in CCS-approved care types, including long day care, family day care, outside school hours care, and in-home care. It is especially relevant for administrative staff responsible for enrolments, billing and subsidy reconciliation.
