Sabine Winton retains ECEC portfolio in Cook Cabinet reshuffle 

The Hon Sabine Winton MLA has retained her position as Minister for Early Childhood in the newly announced WA Labor Government Cabinet. 

Minister Winton is also the Minister for Education; Preventative Health and; Wheatbelt, with Premier Roger Cook creating a new Cabinet to focus on economic diversification, energy transition, future jobs and manufacturing. 

New portfolios of Health Infrastructure, Preventative Health, and Aged Care and Seniors have been created with a view to delivering continuing improvement in health services right across the State, while dedicated Ministers for each region have been announced to focus on local job opportunities as well as the services and infrastructure regional communities need.

“The portfolios allocated to my new Cabinet align with that vision, and they align with further changes to the operation of Government that we will announce in the weeks ahead,” the Premier said. 

“It is a vision that will deliver a strong, diversified economy by training highly skilled workers to make more things here, build more homes and provide the services every Western Australian should have access to, no matter where they live in this great State.”

“In these globally uncertain times, my priority is to make the WA economy more resilient and to establish our State as a renewable energy powerhouse, which will drive our commitment to exit coal fired power generation, help our trading partners to decarbonise and ensure secure and affordable energy.”

The Swearing-In Ceremony for the Cook Cabinet Ministers, Cabinet Secretary and Parliamentary Secretaries took place at Government House on Wednesday, 19 March, 2025.
