ECEC Provider in Focus: Buttercups Childcare

Buttercups Childcare is a long day care (LDC) approved provider with 13 services in Western Australia.
What is the history of Buttercups Childcare?
Father and son, Pat and Steve Goldsworthy, opened the first Buttercups Childcare Centre in Northbridge in 2016 with a goal to positively impact children’s development. They created a nurturing environment that celebrates each child and family’s unique needs.
Although Pat retired in 2024 and Buttercups has expanded across Perth, Steve continues to lead as Managing Director, supported by a dedicated team committed to the organisation’s original values and vision.
What is the Buttercups Childcare vision and approach to learning?
Buttercups places the child’s safety as its top priority, saying “we provide a secure, nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported to reach their potential. Working closely with families and the community, we tailor care to meet each child’s unique needs, fostering confidence, happiness, and a love for learning.”
Play-based learning drives children’s development, and programs delivered by the provider aim to nurture a love for learning, supporting growth from birth to age five.
“By encouraging choice and independence, we build self-confidence and self-help skills,” information on the website notes.
“Our educators tailor activities to each child’s unique needs, fostering learning through play and preparing them for school.”
What is the Buttercups Childcare approach to educator professional development?
Buttercups Childcare aims to provide “more than just daycare jobs” and instead to offer “a pathway to a rewarding career where your passion for early childhood education can truly thrive.”
“We believe in fostering growth and offering opportunities for career development, with ongoing training and a nurturing work environment,” information on the website notes.
“No matter what role you are in, you’ll be part of a community that values collaboration, connection, and a shared commitment to learning and quality care. By joining us, you’re not only shaping the future of the children in our care, but also building your own brighter future.”
