Three learning hubs in the New South Wales region of Cessnock have benefited from funding delivered through the NSW Government’s Local Small Commitments Allocation (LSCA) program.

The LSCA initiative is a $37.2 million grants program providing benefits to local communities and councils through a range of capital works, services and programs, events, supplies and equipment, charitable donations, and playground and park upgrades.

Kurri Kurri and District Preschool and Kindergarten, Edgeworth Community Preschool and Edgeworth Childcare Centre will all benefit from the funding, which will go towards enhancing services for children across the electorate.

Kurri Kurri and District Preschool and Kindergarten will use its $70,000 for various projects including replacing interior flooring within its learning spaces.

Edgeworth Childcare Centre intends to use its $50,000 in funding for a variety of projects, including the replacement of boundary fencing, the replacement of soft fall, and to replace equipment for children to have a space to play and develop.

Edgeworth Community Preschool plans to use its $70,000 share of the funding to remove and replace its current soft fall, and to extend its shade sail cover in the outdoor play areas.

The funding was announced earlier this month by Cessnock MP Clayton Barr, who described investing in the early years as being “essential for our children to thrive.”
