The Lara Lake Community Preschool community recently made a generous $2,500 donation to Ride The Bellarine for SIDS, a charity based in the City of Greater Geelong, Victoria.
The donation has supported the charity to achieve a major milestone, and was the largest donation from an organisation since the ride’s inception.
“It’s great to have all community members involved, but when primary schools and pre-schools get involved it’s extra special,” Ride The Bellarine for SIDS Director and Founder Peter Herrick told local news source Geelong Times.
The preschool’s donation also helped Mr Herrick’s 2023 fundraising efforts surpass the $40,000 mark, the highest amount of money raised to date for Ride The Bellarine for SIDS.
The preschool raised the funds with a week of fundraising activities, which culminated in almost 200 children riding around the playground to raise money.
For Lara Lake Community Preschool teacher Sam Hardy, deciding to support the charity was an easy decision, and one which opened up the avenue for some powerful discussions with children.
“We thought we could raise a decent amount of money, but we were not expecting to raise what we did,” Ms Hardy said.
Those who are interested can support Mr Herrick and his charity efforts here.
