Early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider KU Children’s Services has been named as an Employer of Choice in the Australian Business Awards for the eighth year running.

To be named as an Employer of Choice, a business or organisation must show that it:

  • Develops a leading workplace
  • Maximises the full potential of its workforce
  • Has established policies and practices in place for effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

KU was the first ECEC provider in Australia to receive this accolade back in 2016, and winning the award for eight consecutive years is testament to the provider’s commitment to employee wellbeing and culture.

“KU is incredibly proud to have been named as an Employer of Choice at The Australian Business Awards for eight consecutive years,” said CEO Christine Legg, accepting the award on behalf of KU and its more than 2,000 employees across over 120 services and programs.

“We’re committed to ensuring our workplace culture allows for people to thrive, innovate and develop lifelong careers, and we warmly welcome new staff into the KU family, invest in their future, and support them as people.”

By remaining focused on living the values of the organisation, and by placing its people at the heart of everything that it does, KU is able to “constantly reimagine and co-create a world of work where our people and our purpose thrive in harmony in a supportive and inclusive culture,” she said.

This commitment also plays out in the calibre of KU services, 76 per cent of which have been rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standard, compared with the national average of 24 per cent.

The Australian Business Award for Employer of Choice requires organisations to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of culture, leadership and strategy; education, training and development; performance, recognition and remuneration; and, health, safety and satisfaction.

Entries were assessed through a robust and dynamic framework, enabling participating organisations to be benchmarked against world-class performance standards.
