Larapi Child and Family Learning Centre will open in coming weeks

Children and families in the Tasmanian community of Wynyard are eagerly anticipating the opening of the Larapi Child and Family Learning Centre in coming weeks, one of six new Child and Family Learning Centres across the state.
Tasmanian Minister for Education, Children and Youth Roger Jaensch visited the newly-completed centre, located adjacent to the Table Cape Primary School last week, explaining that the centre will “provide access to a variety of important services and supports for local families with children aged birth to five years.”
“Like all our Child and Family Learning Centres, the development of the Wynyard centre has been community-led, with a Local Enabling Group comprised of representatives from service providers, educators and community members involved in its design.”
Minister Jaensch thanked Burnie-based contractor Stubbs Construction for its work during construction, as well as members of the Local Enabling Group who helped shape the centre.
“Our government is investing in the education and wellbeing services our youngest learners and their families need to thrive, while also supporting Tasmanian jobs during construction.”
‘Larapi’ is the palawa kani name for the Flowerdale River. For more information about the service, please see here.
