New look for MercyCare ECEC staff – uniforms designed with staff input
Educators and other staff who are members of MercyCare Early Learning are sporting new uniforms, after they spoke up and expressed a desire for a more comfortable and inclusive uniform.
Staff wanted shirts that had colourful and easily identifiable designs, made from an easy-wear fabric.
Yamatji man Brian Blatchford created a design for the shirts which features a yarning circle in a nest, representing the centre, with children in it gathering and yarning to learn and grow. The design also features footprints which represent the journey MercyCare is on together with children and families.
“We are thrilled at how Brian was able to capture what matters to us at MercyCare Early Learning Service, incorporating designs from the murals he painted at a handful of our centres,” said General Manager Lucy Pugh.
“We wanted to ensure that the uniform was not only comfortable but also inclusive of our diverse workforce.”
