WA Government invites startups and small businesses to apply for $40,000 funding

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) small businesses and startups have been invited to join other sectors and industries to apply for funding of up to $40,000 through the 2023 Innovation Booster Grant (IBG) program.

The IBG is a Western Australian Government funding program designed to help overcome the barriers to commercialisation. First launched in 2011, the IBG is part of the WA Government’s $16.7 million New Industries Fund to attract investment and promote the economic diversification of WA.

Since the grant began, 233 grants have been awarded, valued at about $3.7 million. In 2023, a total of $1 million will be awarded across 25 businesses, with the maximum grant amount now $40,000, up from $20,000, to increase the impact of each grant.

For the first time also, recipients will be able to request 50 per cent of the grant upfront, rather than producing the money themselves, and be able to claim the remaining 50 per cent after completing the project.

These changes mean grant recipients will be able to start working on their projects immediately.

IBG applications open on Wednesday 15 February 2023 at 9am AWST and close on Wednesday 15 March 2023 at 11am AWST.
