FDC advocates Charles and Jenny celebrate 60 year anniversary

Charles and Jenny Ivin, a couple from the Brisbane suburb of Ferny Grove, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
They are well known in their local community for their extensive connections to programs supporting children and families, which culminated in Jenny being awarded The Order of Australia Association’s Queensland Senior Volunteer Award in 2017.
As well as being parents to two children, and grandparents to four, the Ivin’s are long-term Family Day Care providers, and have also played a role in educating and caring for many local Brisbane children along with their own.
Now retired, the pair have been involved in supporting the local primary school’s Ready Reader program and Uniform Shop, and Mitchelton Library-based ‘The Purlers’ group, who knit for Brisbane based charities.
“Throughout their lives they have always worked, volunteered, pursued recreational interests and been there for family and friends,” daughter Cathy shared with Australian Seniors News.
“In their young family years, they have spent a lot of time volunteering with Dog Obedience, Dog Showing, Cubs, Scouts, Amateur Radio (supporting SES), the Betty Meskell School of Dance and the Mackay Community Theatre, and the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre,” she added.
Jenny was a Commissioner for Declarations and, Charles, a Justice of the Peace. Since retiring, the couple enjoy holidays in South East Queensland, and spend most of their days with family, friends and neighbours and enjoying their volunteering and recreational pursuits.
The Sector extends its congratulations to the happy couple on this significant occasion. To read the original coverage of this story please see here.
