ACCC keen to hear from providers with fewer than 40 services to support inquiry

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) is seeking expressions of interest from Commonwealth-funded early childhood education and care (ECEC) providers with fewer than 40 services who are willing to supply information to assist the ACCC’s Childcare inquiry.

Services can include centre-based long day care (LDC), family day care (FDC), in-home care or outside school hours care (OSHC). The inquiry is open only to services that operate Commonwealth-funded services and will not consider input from sessional kindergartens.

As well as engaging with childcare providers with services fewer than 40, the ACCC will carry out a wide range of consultation with other stakeholders as part of the inquiry. It is important for the ACCC to collect a diverse range of data so that all aspects of the sector are taken into account.

Given the inquiry is focused on looking into the market for the supply of ECEC services, the ACCC wants to hear from providers to gain a better understanding of the costs involved in running an ECEC business.
