Swan Hill North Kindergarten to relocate to site of Swan Hill North Primary School

December 21, 2022

Swan Hill North Kindergarten will relocate to the new site of Swan Hill North Primary School, with a purpose-built modular building will be established on the grounds of the primary school, which will support the roll out of the Government’s recent announcement to increase four-year-old kindergarten to 30 hours per week and provision of 15 hours for three-year-old kindergarten.

The move is a collaborative effort between Shine Bright EYM, Swan Hill North Primary School, the Department of Education (DET), the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and Swan Hill Rural City Council

It is expected that the new kindergarten will be operational from the start of Term 2, 2023, and that having the kindergarten co-located on school grounds will also assist in the children’s transition to primary school.

“We are excited to announce that Shine Bright Swan Hill North Kindergarten will be relocated to new premises,” Suzi Sordan, CEO of Shine Bright said.

“Early education has a profound effect on the way children develop; providing a state of the art facility such as this goes a long way to support the children of the local community. We hope to continue to offer support in the coming months to families who will be part of this exciting relocation in 2023.”

Swan Hill North Primary School principal Brea Terris said the school was proud to provide the service to the families of the region, adding “we want to provide the children in our area a safe, purpose-built place where they can transition from kindergarten to primary school smoothly.”

The current site of Swan Hill North Kindergarten will remain vacant during 2023 while the demand to provide kindergarten services from this facility is assessed against announced Government reforms.
