A ten year partnership between Richmond Football Club and national children’s not-for-profit organisation, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, has seen the club and its supporters, affectionately known as the ‘Tiger Army’ donate almost $1.7 million towards keeping children safe.

2022 was the Foundation’s 25th anniversary, and to mark the momentous occasion, the football club made a sizeable donation of over $220,000.

Richmond’s CEO Brendon Gale said the Tiger Army continued to back the strong partnership with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, something he noted as being “so important to the livelihoods of these young children in our communities.”

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our children and we take great pride in being able to make this contribution and raise the profile of the work the Foundation is doing,” he added.

“Our members and supporters continue to make donating to the Foundation a part of their support for our Club and we are thrilled that our partnership and contributions to this terrific charity remains so strong 10-years on.”

The funds were raised through several avenues, including a dedicated match day on 16 June (Round 14 against Carlton) which raised more than $65,000, and through the purchase of  Richmond’s Alannah & Madeline Foundation membership.

Five per cent of all Richmond merchandise sales were also donated to the Foundation.

Christmas gifts are donated by the club to support some of the most vulnerable children the Foundation assists, gathered from the staff and partners of Richmond.

Over the past 10 years, Richmond Football Club and the Tiger Army have contributed $1,684,639.77 to the Foundation’s programs, including its Buddy Bag program, eSmart and Children Ahead.

“We know that only when our children and young people are safe is their best future possible. This fantastic support from Richmond Football Club goes such a long way to ensure this can happen. These contributions helped to make an enormous difference to millions of lives and are a testament to this enduring partnership,” Foundation CEO Sarah Davies AM shared.

“It is because of partners like the Richmond Football Club and its members, supporter base, players and leadership that we can create a safer world for children. We are truly grateful,” she added.
