KU to open new service in Victoria and take on full management of Goulburn site in 2023

KU has committed to two growth opportunities thus far for 2023, sharing its intention to open  KU Manor Lakes North Kindergarten (interim name) in Victoria, and to transition into the full management of Goulburn Pre-school in regional New South Wales.

Scheduled to open in 2023, KU Manor Lakes North Kindergarten is located in Melbourne’s south-west, an area managed by Wyndham City Council, which has the highest birth rates in Australia (13 births per day).

The Council plans to operate 50 early education services across the Local Government Area (LGA), and KU is one of five early educator providers that has been invited to operate services in the Wyndham area.

KU’s other Victorian services are KU Dianella Kindergarten (Wyndham Council), Alfred Child Care Centre (City of Melbourne), KU Maidstone Children’s Centre (Maribyrnong City Council), and KU Craigieburn Children’s Centre (Hume City Council).

Goulburn Pre-school to be renamed in 2023

Goulburn Pre-school was established in 1991 and is one of two early childhood education services in the New South Wales Southern Tablelands regional city. The preschool offers 40 places and has long established relationships within the community. It is respectfully regarded as offering a high-quality preschool program with support for children with additional needs.

Following negotiations that began 2021, KU will assume full responsibility of the service, renaming it KU Goulburn Preschool in 2023.The preschool has previously been operated by a volunteer Management Committee, with Goulburn Pre-school Association Inc. approving a transfer of management to KU effective January 2023, following a committee vote in July 2022.

The motivation behind the transition was succession planning and the ongoing sustainable operations of the preschool. With 130 children already on the waiting list for 2023, a KU representative said the organisation looks forward to extending its services in regional NSW and building long lasting relationships with children, families and the community in Goulburn.
