Affinity Education Group (AEG) long day care service, The Kids Academy Warnervale, played host to local MP Emma McBride, who was visiting to formally announce that the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program’s  online parenting programs are now available free of charge to families across the country.

Ms McBride, who is the Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health, said Triple P is an excellent resource for parents and carers.

“It’s important for parents and carers to look after their own mental health and wellbeing, as well as their children’s, and this program will give them the support they need when they need it,” she said.

The program has been made freely accessible thanks to a $40.6 million Australian Government Parenting Education and Support Grant. A suite of online programs accessible from smart phones, tablet and laptops, the easy to use modules can now be utilised by all parents and carers at their own pace and in their own time.

As well as supporting parents and carers with the online programs, Triple P hopes to reduce the stigma around seeking help and support and encourages families to have those important conversations with each other.

Carol Markie-Dadds, Triple P’s International Country Director, said parents and carers are struggling right now with increased levels of anxiety and stress as result of the pandemic, natural disasters, and ongoing financial pressures.

“This funding means that all families with young children in Australia will have free access to Triple P’s evidence-based toolbox of strategies to build their children’s resilience, including their emotional and coping skills, benefiting them now and as they get older,” she explained.

Triple P is a university-developed Australian program, backed by hundreds of research trials and proven by millions of parents around the world.

Triple P has delivered positive outcomes for children and their families across Australia, and more than 30 countries around the world, for over 40 years.

Delivery of the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program to parents and carers of children in Australia is supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care under the Parenting Education and Support Program.

Parents and carers can access free, online parenting support 24/7 at www.triplep-parenting.net.au
