Undergraduate and postgraduate Ascham scholarship on offer for ECTs

Early childhood teachers who are undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate studies with the University of Sydney have been invited to apply for the Ascham Teacher Education Scholarship.

 

This scholarship offers students a unique opportunity to work at a leading Independent School within the Greater Sydney area.

 

Final year teaching students in 2023 can receive $12,000 or $9,000 and undertake an internship at Ascham School. The $12,000 scholarship is per annum for full-time bachelor’s degree recipient and is tenable for up to one year.

 

The other scholarship is valued at $9,000 per annum for full-time master’s degree recipient and is tenable for up to nine months. To be eligible for the scholarships the applicants must meet the following criteria:

 

  • be planning to be enrolled full-time in the final year in 2023 in one of the following degrees:

  • Master of Teaching (Early Childhood),
  • Master of Teaching (Primary Education),
  • Master of Teaching (Secondary Education),
  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood),
  • Bachelor of Education (Primary Education),
  • Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education),
  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary Education)

 

be studying in one or more of the following areas of study:

 

  • Early childhood teaching
  • Primary teaching
  • Secondary teaching in biology, chemistry, commerce, business studies, economics, English, French, history, mathematics, and/or physics

 

  • be willing to:
  • take part in the schools onboarding and induction process,
  • spend one day a week at the School for School Terms 1, 2, 3 and 4 (except during the unpaid internship) (bachelor degree only),
  • undertake an unpaid internship at the School during School Term 4 (bachelor degree only),
  • spend one day a week at the School for School Terms 1, 2 and 3 (except during the unpaid internship) (masters degree only),
  • undertake an unpaid internship at the School during School Term 3 (masters degree only),
  • receive guidance from a mentor teacher
  • participate in academic, pastoral and co-curricular activities.

 

The Scholarship will be awarded to a student with an excellent academic record who will contribute to the curricular and co-curricular life within the School, and has been funded by Ascham School.
