Applications open for 2022 Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants
Applications are now open for the fifth year of the Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grants, funded by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
Victorian early childhood education and care (ECEC) services are invited to join Scouts, Girl Guides, youth and Junior Landcare groups and apply for grants of up to $5,000, with applications closing on Tuesday 9 August 2022.
Successful applicants can use their grants to fund projects that focus on Victoria’s biodiversity and involve and educate young people in valuing and actively caring for Victoria’s biodiversity and natural environment.
Projects can be either on-ground, hands-on projects, or environmental learning or educational activities. Examples include planting Indigenous gardens to cater for native birds and insects, working in collaboration with a local Landcare group to plan and deliver a project, organising a biodiversity-focused excursion or incursion, or taking part in a citizen science program like Waterwatch.
Those services who are seeking inspiration might like to review the case studies from previously completed Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity grant projects, as well as the project example info sheet.
Those services with questions about the grants program can review the summary of the guidelines and criteria here.
