FDCA to host live Pre-Election forum with Rishworth and Robert in attendance

Family Day Care Australia (FDCA) will host a live Pre-Election forum tomorrow evening, with Acting Minister for Education and Youth Stuart Robert and Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development Amanda Rishworth both confirmed as attendees.

To be held on Thursday 28 April from 6:30pm AEST, the forum will discuss how the next Australian Government can leverage family day care (FDC) to better meet the needs of children, families and communities across Australia.

“We will be calling on the Minister and Shadow Minister to discuss how the next Australian Government plans to better support family day care in Australia and the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector more broadly,” FDCA CEO Andrew Patterson said.

“FDC is such an important part of the early childhood education landscape. With the right form of targeted support, there is room to grow the capacity in the family day care sector and better meet the diverse childcare needs of families across Australia,” he added.

FDC educators also make up one of the largest networks of women in small business in the country, operating out of their own homes to provide individualised care to small groups of children, providing high quality, Australian Government approved childcare to more than 94,000 Australian children.

“I look forward to hearing how the next Australian Government plans to support the sector to enable more women to own their own business whilst supporting their own community, particularly in regional and remote Australia and in disadvantaged areas while at the same time as addressing the current ECEC workforce crisis”.

The forum will run live on the FDCA Facebook page in addition to being streamed through FDCA’s website to ensure maximum visibility for the event.
