Play Learn Grow program helps parents of two and three year olds

Victorian parents of children aged two and three years are being invited to take part in an innovative text message program developed in collaboration with early childhood experts.
Participants will begin receiving text messages from 28 March 2022, with registration available through the Play Learn Grow webpage or by texting “PLAY” to 0428 606 027 for further information.
The free text message provides parents and carers with information, practical advice and easy activities to support their child’s learning, development, health and wellbeing at home. Text message themes include engaging in play with your child, supporting social skills, interactive reading and helping children learn new words, and more.
Parents and carers will receive three personalised text messages a week throughout the 24-week program which is specifically designed to:
- support the learning, development, health and wellbeing needs of children aged 2 or 3, laying the foundations for children to have success later in life
- strengthen parent and carer wellbeing as they balance a range of commitments
- complement the existing supports that Maternal Child Health and early childhood education and care services provide to families.
Participants can opt-out of the program at any time, with Play Learn Grow available in Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Karen and Simplified Chinese from April 2022.
The program recognises that the first few years of life are critical for brain development and that quality experiences during this time pave the way for good health and wellbeing throughout life and is an initiative of the Victorian Government.
