Sustainable Play Preschool wins Launch of the Year Award in PETA Vegan Awards 2021
Sustainable Play Preschool, located in Barnsley, NSW, has won the Launch of the Year category in the PETA Vegan Food Awards 2021.
The preschool, which offers care for children aged between two and six years of age, places sustainability at the heart of its ethos, focusing on teaching children to be environmentally friendly and engage in regenerative routines while enjoying a play-based, child-directed curriculum.
“We encourage nature play and connection with gardening and cooking classes (with garden produce) as well as invite them to spend time outdoors in our bush kindy program and large outdoor nature areas at the centre,” a preschool spokesperson explained.
Meals and snacks at the service are included in the daily fees and follow a nutritious, colourful, dietitian approved plant-based menu.
The preschool’s decision to offer a solely vegan food base is not only a point of difference, but also one which reflects that Australia is rapidly shifting towards more plant based options, with meat consumption now at its lowest point in 25 years, with analysts predicting that the market will only keep shrinking.
