MercyCare Heathridge trainee Sophie thanked for her connection with children
MercyCare Heathridge Early Learning Centre trainee Sophie Gaspar joined MercyCare earlier this year, and has quickly made an impression on children and families.
Sophie was drawn to working with children because she grew up in a large family, helping to care for her younger siblings, making the transition into early childhood education and care (ECEC) a natural one.
Heathridge Centre Manager Gemma Gardiner said Sophie has built great connections with her colleagues, children and families. One parent, Abby, noted that Sophie clearly enjoys the company of the children in her care.
“Obviously, my love of the other ladies is huge too, but being much younger I think Sophie would appreciate knowing just how much she is loved by [my daughter] Willow and appreciated by us,” she said.
Sophie is currently working towards her Certificate III in Childcare and is finding the traineeship “a perfect complement to her studies”.
“With working whilst studying, I find that I learn a lot better through practical work on the floor rather than just reading,” she explained. Having the opportunities to learn and talk to everyone around me helps as well.”
