Joint Development Assessment Panel provisionally approves Hamersley ECEC service
A $2.4 million 92 place early childhood education and care (ECEC) service could open in the Perth suburb of Hamersley next year, following the conditional approval of the facility by the Metro Inner-North Joint Development Assessment Panel.
The panel gave conditional approval earlier this month, having reviewed the submission by Rowe Group for a centre on the corner of Beach Road and Glendale Avenue, local news source Perth Now reported.
Located opposite the Warwick Grove shopping centre, the service will host 15 staff in addition to the children, and will be built on part of three lots at 60 and 62 Beach Road and 650 Glendale Avenue, with three residential strata units proposed on the rest of the site.
During the hearing local residents gave presentations about their concerns, which related mainly to extra traffic and noise, and how these would impact on existing residents. The residents also questioned the need for another ECEC service in the area, with four existing centres within 3km of the proposed centre.
