For the third time in four years, Affinity Education Group has been named as a finalist in the Australian Training Awards – Apprenticeships Employer category, in recognition of the work of the Affinity Learning Academy

The news, Affinity’s Head of People and Culture Linda Carroll said, was exciting recognition for Affinity’s sector-leading approach to training and career progression.

Affinity’s approach to training is shaped in partnership with the Affinity Learning Academy, and delivered by Industry Graduates in partnership with approved Registered Training Organisations. It delivers on-the-job professional development and early learning qualifications including Certificate II and III in Early Childhood, and Diploma of Early Childhood, to employees of Affinity Education.

“We launched the Affinity Learning Academy in 2017 to deliver online learning, expert training, workplace learning, and on the job coaching and assessment, as a direct response to the needs of our sector,” Ms Carroll said.

“Our delivery model is clearly preferred by our people, who receive one on one training and support through the Development Coaches employed by Industry Graduates and approved Registered Training Organisations around Australia,” she added.

At the heart of the program’s success is the relationships developed between the Development Coaches and Affinity’s people, which Ms Carroll said were integral to the high percentage of successful completions of qualifications.

“I’d like to recognise the vision and commitment of Industry Graduates, and all the Development Coaches – many of whom previously worked within Affinity Education as Centre Managers prior to stepping up to this next opportunity in their careers,” she added.

The Australian Training Awards showcase the national training system and recognises the individuals, employers and training providers demonstrating excellence in vocational education and training.

The employer category recognises those who have made innovative improvements in training that provide beneficial outcomes for their apprentices and/or trainees in Australia, and to their local community.

The Australian Apprenticeships – Employer Award is judged across the following four criteria:

  • Criterion 1: Innovation in the delivery of training for apprentice/s/trainees;
  • Criterion 2: Links with training organisations and the community;
  • Criterion 3: Apprentice/trainee outcomes; and,
  • Criterion 4: Business outcomes.
