ECEC services big winners in ACT 2021 Nature Play Grants Program
Tuggeranong Town Occasional Childcare Centre Inc and Cubby House on Campus – Early Learning Centre Inc are among the five successful projects to receive a share of the $35,650 made available as part of the 2021 Nature Play Grants program.
Other successful recipients include a playground finder app and a new non-competitive orienteering course at Mulligans Flat Sanctuary.
The Playground Finder by Play Australia will encourage more children to get outside and discover playgrounds near and far, with the grant to support the roll out of the newly redeveloped app and website to include all 519 playgrounds in the ACT. It includes photos, the features of the space and community feedback.
Tuggeranong Town Occasional Childcare Centre Inc will use its $3,400 grant to purchase equipment to support the bush kinder program, while Cubby House will use its $13,833 grant to purchase equipment to create a nature play space, and for professional development.
This year’s recipients build on the success of last year’s round. As a result of a 2020 grant the Walga Nature Preschool at Southern Cross Early Learning Centre created a permanent learning space amongst the trees so the children can spend the entire day learning and exploring outdoors.
A full list of all the 2021 projects funded can be found on the Sport and Recreation website.
