SDN Children’s Services welcomes QLE Grant funding to upgrade 20 playgrounds

SDN Children’s Services has announced that grants for playground upgrades at 20 of its services have been received via Quality Learning Environment (QLE) grants from the NSW State Government.

The QLE program is a series of grants provided by the NSW State Government, which assist eligible not-for-profit preschools and long day care centres to purchase resources and activities which improve physical or educational learning environments they offer children and families.

Some of the Sydney services, such as SDN Milperra and SDN Riverwood, have already received upgrades to their children’s outdoor learning area, and the children at SDN Glebe are “happily participating in the concept stage of the process,” a representative from SDN said.

Children there have been involved in planning their new outdoor space, sharing their thoughts and ideas about what they want to see, and submitting designs on paper as part of the planning. Plans to date include a tunnel they can travel through, then go down a slide.

SDN Lady McKell, and the three UNSW centres operated by SDN also received grants to upgrade their physical learning spaces.

Grants for resources, equipment and incursions were awarded to nine centres, including SDN Hamilton Street, SDN Redfern, and SDN Paddington.
