Jack and Jill Preschool enjoying new flooring thanks to State Government funding boost

Jack and Jill Preschool Director Molly Hewett has welcomed the recent installation of new flooring at the facility thanks to a $15,000 grant from the New South Wales Government as part of the Quality Learning Environments (QLE) program, which supports eligible services to purchase resources and activities which improve physical or educational learning environments.

The service, in the Blue Mountains town of Lithgow, previously had carpeting, which was “hard to keep clean” and looking a bit tired and worn, Bathurst MP Paul Toole told local publication Lithgow Mercury

Grant funding has been used to lay new floorboards throughout the facility, brightening up the space, and making it easy for any spills to be dealt with quickly and easily.

The QLE grants, Mr Toole said, are especially welcomed by his constituents, given the challenging year that 2020 was, with fires, COVID-19 and drought all affecting the community.

“Early childhood education is incredibly important,” he said, “and these grants help educators to provide high quality environments for children.”
