Alan Tudge MP is set to become the next Federal Minister responsible for Education, and by extension early education, as the current Education Minister, Dan Tehan assumes a new position responsible for Trade, Tourism and Investment.

In addition to the Education portfolio Mr Tudge will also assume the Youth portfolio with the two portfolios being combined for the first time.

Prior to this appointment Mr Tudge has held a range of Ministerial portfolios since February 2016 including as Minister for Cities, Urban Infrastructure and Population, Minister for Human Services and Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs.

Mr Tehan, who had held the Education portfolio since August 2018, will transition to the Trade, Tourism and Investment portfolio to replace Simon Birmingham MP, who will be transitioning to become the Minister for Finance.

Notably, Mr Birmingham held the Education Portfolio for three years from 2015 to 2018 prior to being appointed Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister.
