SBS provides resources to support ECEC to get ready for NAIDOC Week in 2020
With NAIDOC Week having been postponed from its usual July dates this year due to concerns arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, various organisations have stepped in to support education services – including those working in early childhood education and care (ECEC) – to prepare for the revised NAIDOC Week dates of 8 to 15 November 2020 (during Term Four).
SBS Learn, as the Official Education Partner for NAIDOC Week 2020, has prepared a range of resources for teachers of all ages, which are now live and available for free via the new SBS Learn website.
Structured around the 2020 theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’, the NAIDOC teacher resource has been designed by First Nations educators, and contains a range of resources which can be used to ensure NAIDOC week is celebrated and acknowledged in a culturally sensitive way.
- From Foundation to Year 12, all SBS Learn materials have direct links to the Australian curriculum, while also tying into and featuring clips from SBS shows, meaning teachers have access to an engaging multimedia resource for their students.
- SBS Learn teacher resources enable educators to facilitate constructive conversations with young people, and strive to extend the social impact and educative value of our content.
As well as the teacher resource, which some educators may find caters more to a school based audience, a variety of resources on the SBS Learn website cater for the early years, with Foundation level resources easily adaptable to the years before school.
Suggestions of book, music and viewing recommendations can be found in the collection, as well as NITV’s series Little J & Big Cuz, which has extensive education materials associated with the series, created in partnership with ACER.
