New website for the National Office for Child Safety, updated links to important resources

The National Office for Child Safety (NOCS) launched a new website earlier this month, coinciding with National Child Protection Week. The refresh has enhanced information on NOCS’ work, as well as links to important child safety resources and support services.

Designed to evolve to meet the needs of the community, new functionality on the site allows for easy navigation, and will allow stakeholders and the community to sign up for updates.

There are a range of resources on the site which have been designed to support child safety, such as the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations which are available in 10 translated languages, and the Complaint Handling Guide: Upholding the Rights of Children and Young People, a resource to support organisations that work with children to appropriately respond to complaints involving children and help children feel safe.

Other resources available on the site include a Guide for Parents and Carers, an Introductory Self-Assessment Tool for Organisations, and a National Principles poster.

NOCS has also commissioned the development of new resources, which will be available on the site from early 2021. They will support implementation of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and help improve the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in organisations across Australia.

As part of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, NOCS provides national leadership, working with Commonwealth, state and territory governments and the non-government sector, to develop national strategies and policies to enhance the safety of children and young people.
