Hurlingham preschool “hooks up” with Angler’s Club
Preschoolers attending Hurlingham Preschool, located in the Victorian council of Bayside, have been temporarily relocated to the nearby former Brighton Angler’s Club for terms three and four while the preschool building is being extended and upgraded.
The Angler’s Club has undergone two months of “refreshment” in order to prepare the space for the young students, including being repainted, having carpet and external doors replaced, an update to the bathrooms, secure fencing added to the perimeter, an all abilities access ramp, a pergola and other exterior works.
Indoor and outdoor resources from the preschool have been relocated to the site to support continuity of learning, while the upgrade, which has been jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Bayside City Council, is completed, scheduled for January 2021.
Once completed, the preschool will have a larger indoor play space and improved amenities and functionality, supporting the immediate and future needs of local families in Bayside’s north.
Nicole, a Hurlingham Preschool parent, said her children had transitioned well to the new space.
“The great natural green space is perfect for play and adventure – just what children need in these times of isolation. I am thankful for the efforts of the Hurlingham Community that came together to achieve this during the holidays so our children’s learning would be uninterrupted,” she added.
The relocation will ensure safety and the least disruption to children and teachers during refurbishment works to the preschool building, which are expected to begin by late August 2020.
The Hurlingham Preschool upgrade is being jointly funded by the Victorian Government and Bayside City Council. When completed in January 2021, Hurlingham Preschool’s larger indoor play space and improved amenities and functionality will ensure the preschool meets the immediate and future needs of local families in Bayside’s north.
