Curious creatures, wild minds – CBCA Book Week 2020 theme announced

Each year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Book Week. During this time education and care settings, schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature, often with children's book character parades and talented librarians, educators, and other passionate staff creating amazing displays.

In 2020, CBCA Book Week will be held in mid October, beginning on 17 October, and ending on 23 October, with the theme ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’. Typically the CBCA Book of the Year Awards are announced each year on the third Friday in August, with CBCA Book Week commencing the following day. This year, however, Book Week has been postponed until Term Four.

All CBCA Book Week announcements will be posted on the CBCA's Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account, with the Council promoting various CBCA Book Week activities taking place across Australia. The Council asked that services who are sharing events, displays and activities via social media use the hashtag #CBCA2020. The CBCA will publish a 'wrap-up' of the week on the website, and asked that those hosting events share this with the Council, so that those events may be included.

A range of free digital resources to support in the promotion of Book Week will be made available shortly on the CBCA website.
