Goodstart pleased to be in Morwell
Goodstart Early Learning has welcomed the commitment by the Victorian Government to funding a new early learning centre at the Morwell Central School site, as announced yesterday.
CEO Julia Davison said Goodstart had been in discussion with the Government about the new centre and welcomed the funding commitment. “This centre, based on the highly successful Doveton College model, could combine high-quality early learning and kindergarten programs with wrap around family and community services, all located conveniently on a public school site,” Ms Davison said.
Highlighting the importance to parents of having centrally located services, Ms Davidson said that Goodstart commended the Victorian Government on committing to this exciting new early years infrastructure.
The number of children in Victoria who access kindergarten programs through long day care settings sits around 40 per cent at present, and Ms Davidson believes this number is set to grow along with workforce participation rates, making a set up such as this ideal for families seeking to accommodate their family and work commitments.
With more than 95 per cent of 3 year olds currently in kinder programs in Victoria attending in long day care settings, infrastructure such as the development in Morwell will be a crucial component of the proposed 3 year kinder rollout over coming years according to Ms Davidson.
