Swinburne Children's Centre

Swinburne Children’s Centre is a community based, for purpose organisation that has provided Early Childhood Education and Care in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne for over 20 years.

Swinburne Childrens Centres offer a fully funded kindergarten program for children who are 4, or turning 4 before the 30th of April of that same year. The integrated kindergarten program is open to all families as a flexible option. The Kindergarten curriculum is child/family focused and initiated, reflective of interests. The foundation of the program is to promote educational outcomes highlighted in The Victorian Early Years Learning Framework.

The educational curriculum within the kindergarten program is a play based learning approach, with intentional teaching and inquiry based investigation embraced. Key curriculum concepts such as early literacy, early numeracy and dispositional enhancement are imbedded in the program to promote maximum learning outcomes for children.

School readiness and skill building is focused predominantly on the development of social and emotional wellbeing, with children attaining a strong sense of self, community and autonomy.

– Kindergarten sessions are delivered by a fully qualified Kindergarten teacher 5 days per week

The kindergarten program is delivered for 37.5 hours per week, well exceeding the minimum delivery expectation of 15 hours

Children have access to this program for their funded kindergarten year, or as part of the long daycare component – everyone is welcome and included

School holiday care is available within the long daycare component
No additional fees or charges apply to access the kindergarten program. Standard daycare fees apply.

Indoor/outdoor program is able to be facilitated all year round with access to the large, undercover outdoor areas

Swinburne Childrens Centres have strong links and ties to additional education supports and programs in the community to further benefit children in their learning.
