We believe that the children in our centre is our reason for being. Nurturing our children’s wellbeing and development is our purpose.
This is why, at Mother Duck the way we view children is our foundation for excellence. Inspired by Loris Malguzzi’s ”Image of the child”, we’ve described our own Image of Child to guide our approach.
There are three key aspects to this Image of child:
- Each child deserves respect, care and attention. There rights must always be upheld. we support children in developing a strong sense of self, so they understand who they are within their family, their community and their world.
- Each child is capable, inquisitive and powerful. They can have a significant impact on the world around them. We support children as they develop a sense of autonomy, independence and self confidence, coming to understand how they can affect other people and their environment.
- Each child is unique, intelligent and resourceful. They can connect and participate in the world around them in many meaningful ways.
We support children as they learn about their world, encouraging joy, curiosity and exploration.
