While we have had hard-fought wins to remove many of the discriminations against women at work, we are lagging behind when it comes to providing women with children the support their family needs.

Right now, Australia’s early learning and care system is precarious and inadequate, placing enormous pressure on families. Too many Australian women with young children face the difficult choice between spending large amounts on quality early learning and care or reducing their paid work hours or even leaving the workforce altogether to take on unpaid caring responsibilities.

Join Fiona Stanley (leading child and public health researcher, Georgie Dent (executive director of The Parenthood), Christine Hobbs (co-founder & CEO, Verve Super), Rana Hussain (diversity and inclusion consultant), and Mary Crooks (executive director of Victorian Women’s Trust) for a panel discussion on why reforming early childhood education is essential to unlocking full gender equality.

This event is part of the Thrive by Five campaign working to make our early learning childcare system high quality and universally accessible.
