Understanding development and behaviour in early childhood
Join Berry Street and Thrive by Five for an online forum discussing the value of teaching self-regulation in tackling challenging behaviours and helping children to grow up safe, thriving and hopeful.
In this event, we will explore how to best support and teach self-regulation to children who exhibit challenging behaviour in response to significant adversity or developmental trauma.
We’ll cover:
- why children may exhibit challenging behaviour
- identifying the warning signs of challenging behaviour
- ways that parents can encourage their children to self-regulate their reactions; and
- how we can address this in the classroom to ensure that children are ready to learn from teachers who are equipped to nurture them.
Host: Annette Jackson, Adjunct Associate Professor, La Trobe University; Executive Director Statewide Services, Berry Street

And a panel of experts including Director of Berry Street’s State-wide Therapeutic Service Dr. Allison Cox, Director of Take Two Holly Mosse, and Principal of Berry Street School Joanne Alford for a Q&A session.
