Online Workshop: The Magic of Maths in Music, Rhythm, & Patterns
In this two-hour online workshop, we will provide early childhood educators and teachers with a rich understanding of how to introduce mathematical concepts to young children in an engaging and age-appropriate manner.
We will explore the magical connection between music and mathematics, delve into the rhythmic patterns that form the foundation of both disciplines, and learn how to use music and rhythm as powerful tools to facilitate mathematical understanding.
During the workshop, we will cover topics such as rhythm and beat as precursors to number recognition, mathematical patterns in music, and the role of music in enhancing spatial awareness – a critical skill for early math development. Attendees will also gain insights into how to create a mathematically rich environment.
We’ll explore how to introduce concepts such as counting, sequencing, and symmetry through interactive games, songs, and movement activities suitable for young children. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be equipped with practical strategies that will help set the stage for a strong foundation in early numeracy.
This online workshop is aligned with the EYLF 2.0 and aims to be as interactive as possible by inviting educators attending live to ask questions, share ideas, and enthusiastically engage.
