Let’s Play Conference

PLAY is the foundation of the Early Years but how do we ensure that we advocate for play in Early Education and Care and ensure we protect the rights of children to play?

 

This conference will be all about play-based learning and will explore the following:

 

1. The value of play and why this is of the highest priority through Keynote address with Tracey Yeomans.

 

2. Delegates will be able to select workshops to suit their interests. Make one choice from each session.

 

SESSION 1: (10.45am - 11.45am)

 

A. What is the buzz about STEM? Who created this term and is it just a fancy word for science? This workshop will give you the opportunity to explore STEMS through PLAY and how you can embed an enriching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths Curriculum through play-based learning.

 

B. This workshop will look at loose parts and how they benefit children's learning. We will also explore sustainable practices when using loose parts in this workshop.

 

SESSION 2: (11.45am - 12.45pm)

 

A. This workshop is based on discussions around how to get the best out of your program by focusing on the rhythm of the day. You will leave with a toolkit full of refreshing ideas on the tempo of the day and harmonious connected times with children.

 

B. It is time to "get ready for school". As our young children begin to transition to school what skills and attributes do they need for a successful start to school and how do Early Childhood educators advocate for play-based learning in this space? How do we ensure that we advocate for play-based learning as this transition occurs?

 

This conference is suitable for all Early Childhood professionals working in Long Day Care, Family Day Care, and Out of School Hours Care. As a professional educator or leader, you will benefit from attending this conference and will walk away with practical and reflective ideas to implement and share with your team.

 

We will conclude the day with all delegates together for some questions and answers and some reflective conversations.
