Minister for Wide Bay welcomes $330,000 funding to boost access to care

Federal Member for Wide Bay, a Queensland region located north of Brisbane, Mr Llew O’Brien has welcomed recent funding which will see $330,000 flow into the area to support improved access to child care. 

Mr O’Brien said three Wide Bay child care services would receive Federal Government support through the Community Child Care Fund (CCCF).

Churches of Christ In-Home Care Wide Bay will receive $189,293; Kids Choice Granville will receive $100,000; and Little Gems Child Care & Early Learning Centre Maryborough will benefit from $50,000.

The funding will be used to create additional places, cover day to day costs, or extend service offerings by providing additional transport options for local families, Mr O’Brien said. 

“This investment will help our local providers overcome some of the unique challenges child care services in the city don’t face, such as attracting and retaining qualified staff.” he noted. 

In an announcement yesterday, Federal Minister for Education, Dan Tehan, said the Government was providing more than $7 million to 76 child care providers in disadvantaged areas across the country.
