Lane Cove Council the latest ECEC provider to partner with Y Careers

Sydney’s Lane Cove Council is the latest employer partner for Y Careers, leveraging the power of the new trainee initiative to boost the pipeline of passionate early childhood education and care (ECEC) professionals available to support children and families in the area.
As well as boosting the ECEC workforce, the partnership will benefit young trainees, who will get the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and a nationally recognised qualification while working in high quality services.
Lane Cove Council joins a growing network of local councils that are using traineeships as an innovative recruitment strategy, not only helping young people to build their careers but also helping providers of ECEC to strengthen their talent pool.
Through the Y Careers traineeship program the Council has supported two young people to gain their qualifications through an 18 month ECEC traineeship with Kindy Cove Childcare Centre.
As well as gaining a qualification, the young people have mentoring and support provided through a Y Careers Coach.
“We welcome Lane Cove Council as our newest employer partner at Y Careers,” Y Careers Executive Director Amaresh Devanesen said.
“This partnership shows how local employers can create meaningful work for young people while meeting workforce needs through traineeships. We’re excited to see the impact of this collaboration and look forward to expanding opportunities for the next generation.”
