The IEU is the union for university-qualified teachers in the early childhood education and care sector.
We represent the industrial and professional interests of our members, whether you work in community-based preschools, long day care centres or schools. We negotiate for your salaries and conditions, and we advocate for your interests in professional and policy discussions, committees and forums.
The IEU is committed to:
- Improving pay and conditions for our members, including through engaging in supported bargaining through the Fair Work Commission
- Providing industrial advice and representation to members regarding issues they face in the workplace, including disputes relating to salaries and entitlements, allegations relating to work performance, child protection, unfair dismissal, and workplace health and safety.
- Supporting the professionalism of teachers by providing professional development and assistance with teacher accreditation
- Advancing the interests of teachers through submissions to government, education authorities and law reform committees across all matters relating to the work of teachers in the early childhood sector.
- Keeping members up to date with issues in the sector through our publications and social media.
