Final days to have your say about Moriac Preschool expansion
Interested parties have a few days remaining to ‘have their say’ about the draft concept design for a preschool in Moriac, Victoria, with Surf Coast Shire Councillor Heather Wellington encouraging locals, including young families, to share their thoughts.
“This site is a hub of activity in Moriac, welcoming kindergarteners and also families utilising the Child and Family Health service,” she said.
“The proposed design integrates new and old and seeks to retain the much-loved character of the existing site.”
With the draft concept designs aiming to improve the accessibility, safety and connections of the preschool to the surrounding public open space, design features include:
- A new playroom for the pre-school to meet future demand.
- Increased outdoor space for the pre-school.
- An improved Child and Family Health space including a multi-purpose room offering the community a flexible space for playgroups and meetings.
- Improved connections with a new northern footpath connecting to the entry, playground and other existing footpaths.
- Improved accessibility allowing for bikes, scooters, prams, mobility aids, wheelchairs etc.
- New frontage and reception promoting a welcoming environment.
- A fencing replacement at the eastern yard.
- A new shared kitchen space where children can participate in cooking activities.
Cr Wellington thanked the Moriac Pre-school community for their involvement in the opening round of consultation.
“The parent committee of management has been instrumental in helping Council reach this milestone, with members’ input helping to shape the draft concept design,” she said. “We also heard from the pre-schoolers, who drew fantastic pictures of items they would like at their kinder.”
People who would like a printed survey can call (03) 5261 0600 to arrange one to be posted.
The survey will close Friday 13 September. Feedback will help shape a final concept design.
