Future ECT Katie Carusi shines in Riverina Regional Training Awards

Katie Carusi received the Trainee of the Year Award at this year’s Riverina Regional Training Awards, honoured for her strong commitment to her studies in early childhood education and care (ECEC).
Ms Carusi began her training journey in the ECEC field by studying at certificate and diploma levels and is now enrolled in a university degree, working toward a Bachelor qualification.
She was applauded for her thirst for knowledge, passion for the profession, and ongoing commitment to sharing fresh ideas and new research with her colleagues.
“I knew I wanted to study childcare as seeing children meet different goals and being such a big part of the journey was so rewarding,” she said.
“This traineeship has helped me immensely. I have gained many new skills, confidence, and knowledge, which have improved my education and care practices.”
The Riverina Regional Training Awards celebrated the achievements of all category winners including apprentices, trainees, students, businesses, and trainers that champion vocational education, with Ms Carusi sharing the top honours spot with Arlyn Ramirez who was awarded Apprentice of the Year for her work in hospitality.
“Congratulations to Arlyn and Katie for their remarkable achievements. Their stories exemplify the transformative power of VET and the opportunities it creates for individuals to thrive and make a significant impact in their communities,” NSW Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education Steve Whan said.
