ECEC sector encouraged to participate in Victorian Teachers’ Games

Early childhood teachers (ECTs) and educators are being invited to participate in the Victorian Teacher’s Games (VTG) which will be held in September 2024.

Registrations for the games, which will take place in Latrobe City from 22 to 25 September 2024, are now open, providing an opportunity for the early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector to participate in and connect through a range of sporting, recreation, wellness, and social events.

The VTG is a major event on the education calendar, with the 2023 Games seeing more than 1,150 competitors taking part in 36 different events across Latrobe City. 96 per cent of participants said the event benefited their personal health and wellbeing.

Workplace coordinators are being sought to help grow awareness of the games and to boost participation by encouraging colleagues to attend.

To participate in the games themselves, and the events surrounding them, register through the VTG website

While the sporting activities are the primary focus, the social, wellness and educational aspects are equally important. The games also provide an opportunity to travel and meet fellow educators from across the state.

It’s a great way to teach participants the value of sport competition, participation and the health and wellbeing benefits of being active.

The VTG is hosted in regional cities on a 2-year cycle, with Latrobe City hosting VTG again in this year after hosting in 2023.
