More ECEC projects funded in Round 6 of WA’s RED grants program

An early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider in Western Australia has been awarded $140,000 to establish a long day care (LDC) centre in Albany and expand existing outside school hours (OSHC) and vacation care as part of Round 6 of the state’s Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program.

The establishment of the LDC service and the expansion of the OSHC service operated by Albany-based Village Childcare Services will provide an additional 68 ECEC placements for children from birth to twelve years of age in the region, supporting jobs growth and the availability of works for other businesses in the area. 

All the successful projects have a focus on supporting industry job creation in the Great Southern region of WA, with other successful applicants supporting health care, veterinarian services and manufacturing. 

Across all rounds of the program, which will run over nine years, $50.85 million will be provided by the Government to support locally driven projects to stimulate economic growth and build resilience in the regions.

“Healthcare, childcare and manufacturing are key priorities for development in the Great Southern – and together the successful recipients will help give these sectors a boost,” said Regional Development Minister Don Punch. 

“These initiatives reflect the Government’s commitment to driving diversified employment opportunities and supporting the people behind local businesses in our regions.”
