ECEC provider raises money and awareness of Williams Syndrome
Early childhood education and care (ECEC) provider Wiggles and Giggles, which operates five services in the Hills District of Sydney, are on a mission to raise awareness of the rare genetic disorder Williams Syndrome, which impacts one in 10,000 Australians.
Williams Syndrome is characterised by mild to moderate intellectual disability, unique personality characteristics, distinctive facial features, and cardiovascular problems.
The owners of Wiggles and Giggles have a daughter who lives with Williams Syndrome, and moved into the world of ECEC when she was born so that they would be able to help her, and other children with additional needs, to access education and care.
The service has run many fundraisers for Williams Syndrome over the years, however in 2023 they switched things up a little, hosting a walkathon which was held yesterday at Nurragingy Reserve.
“All of our educators were all on board to help out, everyone donated their time and resources to be able to collect as many donations as we can,” Operations Manager Charmaine Coates shared with local news source The Western Weekender.
