Leeton Shire grants approval for new 79 place ECEC service
New South Wales’ Leeton Shire Council has approved a development application for a new early childhood education and care (ECEC) service at 39-45 Brobenah Road, Leeton.
The purpose- built 79-place will include appropriate parking and landscaping. The development plan received only one objection and one petition, which related to traffic, parking and noise, however these have been addressed through conditions of consent.
Mayor Cr Tony Reneker said he is looking forward to seeing the development realised, stating: “The outcome not only addresses a pressing need for accessible and high-quality childcare services in our community but also brings promising economic prospects. Once completed, the childcare facility will generate employment opportunities for 18 staff members which is a great thing for our town and the growth of our local economy.”
Cr George Weston, sharing Mayor Reneker’s sentiments, added: “Childcare facilities are not just spaces for nurturing our children, but also the foundation of a thriving workforce. By investing in childcare, we empower parents to pursue their careers which in turn assists local businesses with attracting and retaining workers.”
A provider for the service has yet to be announced.
